What is the Strafford Rivers Conservancy?
The Strafford Rivers Conservancy is a non-profit land trust dedicated to protecting and conserving the natural resources, beauty and character of the land throughout the Strafford County region of New Hampshire. The Conservancy achieves its mission through the promotion and acceptance of conservation easements, education, and the acquisition and stewardship of land. Since 1989, the Strafford Rivers Conservancy has worked closely with all sectors of the community including public agencies, willing landowners, businesses and other non-profit organizations to preserve our region's special landscapes to benefit current and future generations to come.
How does the Strafford Rivers Conservancy
achieve its mission?
The Strafford Rivers Conservancy conserves land by facilitating the conservation easement process and educating landowners on the procedures for protecting their land through conservation easements and by accepting conservation easements or outright gifts of land. The Conservancy is also available to aid municipal boards and other individuals or organizations interested in promoting land conservation. In addition, the Conservancy may work with developers, early in the planning process, to create development plans that are both environmentally sensitive and economically viable. The Strafford Rivers Conservancy is the grantee of many conservation easements, which the organization must perpetually monitor and inspect on an annual basis.
